I weighed myself on one of those drug store scales that prints out a little card - it read, "Beware of Ivory Poachers!" I tried again and it said, "Hey, one at a time!" - Alas, it was clear, I needed to watch my weight. We have a couple of scales in our house and they read about 12-15 pounds apart. I recently went to the doctor for my once every 10 years annual check up so I had the official MD scale weight. Both my scales differed widely so I was in the market for a "good" scale. Enter the Soehnle Easy Control Bathroom Scale (note - you can use it in other rooms).First, the scale came with batteries! Yes, batteries WERE included - very cool. Second, it's really high tech - thin glass plate, large numbers, lots of modern style. Third, I didn't have to crack the manual to use it the first time. Yeah, I know, an owners manual for a bathroom scale, what's up with that? But it does so much that the manual (34 pages - in EVERY conceivable language) is actually needed to get the maximum value from the thing.The scale reads your weight in pounds or kilograms (although kilograms are a unit of mass). It's simple to switch from metric to English - one button on the back does it. Then you tell it your height by pressing the arrows on the right side of the display. Place the scale on a hard, level surface and step on. The scale gives you your weight and Body Mass Index - a vital number to truly gauge your current "situation". Oh, yeah - my weight was (alas) exactly what the MD scale read.I grew up with cheap, unreliable and ugly scales in the house and simply assumed that all of them everywhere were crummy junk. This high tech, beautiful scale has made me a believer.Want to actually enjoy getting on the scale? Then try one of these bad boys. It's the best scale I have used and I think it will help me better manage my weight. Can't ask much more than that from a home appliance.Highly recommended.

This is my new go-to scale. It not only looks nice (and can be used at night since the LED lights up) but it even feels nice to step on. Don't ask me why, I know it is a crazy thing to say. My other scale (using for a decade and a half) seems to step down a little bit when I stand on it. This doesn't do that, it just feels very solid. That is the best I can do to describe it.I like that it will also track your performance so when you step on it it will continually remind you how far I've got to go to reach my goal *sad face*. I appreciate that it rounds to the nearest tenth of a pound, whereas my other scale rounded to the nearest half. And it seems very consistent. When I step on it the weight doesn't vary too much (slight variance) from one weighing to the next.I love it, and I highly recommend it. What else more can I say?

The scale is very high-tech looking. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the batteries were included with the scale. I also comes with a users's manual that is about 34 pages. The only problem is that it comes in 18 languages in every section. I would have preferred that the languages were all consolidated by section (all the English together, all the German together, etc.).I decided to follow the instructions because it seemed easier than trying to figure out the controls. The first thing that I did was to change it to pounds, since it is a measure that I understand. You then have to tap on the set button to set your height and desired weight. Once set, you then stand on the scale to weight yourself. The display is big and bright. Once it stops blinking you can see your weight, BMI and how far from your desired weight you are.It also will display "LO" when the batteries are low and "OL" when the person exceeds the weight limit.I like the weight as it displayed the same weight as the one in my doctor's office.I recommend this scale. It is of high quality and very true to your weight.
