Whale Scale Kitchen Scale comes with Stainless Steel Platform for easy cleaning after use. Weigh foods directly on the scale platform. The price was right on and I like the stainless steel top. I installed the supplied AAA batteries and it worked perfectly. Rock solid on the counter top and the back lit display is a nice touch. It is simple to use and seems dead on accurate. I am hard to impress but this for twice the money would still be a good buy.

First the bad: If you find your scale behaving erratically, here's what you need to do.You need to center the platform in the square opening in the cover ... probably knocked off center during shipping ...Simply grasp the base with one hand and the platform with the other and move it about till it no longer touches any sides of the base cover. If when you press either of the buttons... the display still shows fluctuating numbers, going + and - display showing other than zeros ... than the cover is still touching against the platform somewhere and you need to try again... the key presses are flexing the cover and it's moving the platform up and down where it's touching against it. The pictures are deceiving. The display is not vertical as it appears to be in the pics, it is almost horizontal / parallel with the platform. If you place an object larger than the platform on the scale, you cannot read the display. I bought this one scale out of all the others for this one reason: thinking I would still be able to read the scale display when large objects were placed on it. Not a problem though.... for larger items I'll just raise them from the platform with a tared spacer. The directions state ... that to turn the unit off... press and hold the tare button for a seconds... I found that you need to click the button one more time after doing so to shut it down. The press and hold disables the tare function only, one more click is needed to power down.... without disabling the tare... each repeated click of the button is simply seen as a request to re-tare, hence the 2 second hold. Not doing so can have you thinking the unit is malfunctioning because it fails to shut down.The good:The scale itself and the functioning and accuracy of the scale are excellent.By the way, it seems to need about a half minute or so to warm up to where it has dead on accuracy with fractional ounces... as to a item weighed, being same when placed on the platform alone, or weighed in a tared container. This is in no way a negative review... the scale is a bargain at this price. I'm happy with it.... the display is bright, large and easy to read. It's very accurate and looks good. It would be great if angle of viewing of the display was adjustable though. I believe the manufacturer should place 4 pull tab spacers ... between the platform and cover on each of four sides to keep it centered / spaced....during shipping...... customer would pull out the tabs when received.... I bet this would prevent a lot of returned items: I almost did but then found and solved the problem. So... by all means ... Buy. It's a great scale. Somebody probably just used mine for a football during shipping.

I love this scale. It is very accurate. This scale is easy to use. I love the tare feature and that it holds 11 lbs.I have tried a more expensive scale and it broke within weeks.I use this scale 3-5 times a day. I would buy it again!
